Ryan McGillicuddy
Born and raised in Austin, TX, Ryan first came to San Marcos in 1999 to attend Southwest Texas State University, graduating in 2003 with a BS in Geography and a BA in Anthropology.
He and his wife Jamie were married at Spring Lake in 2005, and he returned to what is now Texas State University a short time later, earning a Masters of Applied Geography.
Ryan is a Conservation Biologist and the Watershed Conservation Team Leader for the Inland Fisheries Division of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Based at the Texas River Center in San Marcos, he has been with the Department for 19 years and specializes in the conservation and restoration of streams and riparian areas.
He and his team provide technical guidance and resources to landowners and river stewards throughout the state, with a special emphasis on the Edwards Plateau and Trans Pecos ecoregions.
Ryan served on the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 2018-2023 and currently sits as Vice President on the board of the Texas Riparian Association.
